About eight billion people live on Earth, but growth is slowing in many countries.
In 2023, the world’s population will grow by 75 million and will reach 8 billion on January 1. ABC reported this on Thursday, June 28, citing data from the US Census Bureau.
It was noted that the global growth rate last year was slightly less than 1%. And by the beginning of 2024, 4.3 people will be born every second worldwide and two deaths will be recorded.
The population growth rate in the United States last year was 0.53%, about half that of the rest of the world. The United States added 1.7 million people and on New Year’s Day its population will be 335.8 million.
If current rates continue for the rest of the decade, the 2020s could be the slowest decade in US history, producing a growth rate of less than 4% over the 10-year period from 2020 to 2030, says by William Frey, a demographer at the Brookings Institution.
The slowest growing decade followed the Great Depression of the 1930s, when the growth rate was 7.3%.
It was previously reported that according to demographers’ forecast, in 10 years the population of Ukraine will be from 26 to 35 million people.
