Bloomberg reported this.
The publication refers to a letter from the Ukrainian Prime Minister to the Interdepartmental Donor Coordination Platform (MDCP). According to Bloomberg, it says that funding is needed as early as January and should be aimed at budgetary needs – government support, salaries for teachers, civil servants and pensions.
The Ukrainian prime minister announced “exceptionally high uncertainty” regarding the 2024 budget and invited an emergency meeting with Western partners.
Bloomberg reports this with reference to the corresponding letter that Denis Shmigal sent to the coordination group of representatives of the G7 countries that controls the allocation of funds to Ukraine (MDCP).
According to Shmygal, donors should hold an extraordinary meeting in January before the planned one in March.
We cannot wait until March to finance our social needs,” the agency quotes the Ukrainian prime minister.
It is unknown how the recipients reacted to the letter and whether they agreed to the meeting, Bloomberg writes.
Let us recall that the US Congress will return to consider the issue of assistance to Ukraine only in January (and the prospects are still unclear). And the EU will decide on the allocation of funds on February 1.
Germany today assured that Kyiv will receive the 50 billion euros promised by the European Union for 2024-2027 under the Ukraine Facility program under any circumstances.
