The name of the suspect has not been made public, but Babel’s source in law enforcement agencies reports that we are talking about Chervinsky.
According to investigators, in July 2020, he posed as an influential official of the fiscal service in order, together with his accomplices, to receive $100 thousand from an entrepreneur. At the same time, the ex-intelligence officer allegedly promised to return the detained shipment of tobacco products to the businessman.
Officially, we are talking about “a complete attempt to seize someone else’s property by deception on an especially large scale, committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons,” writes the Kiev Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The case was opened under Part 2 of Art. 15 hours 4 tbsp. 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – a complete attempt to seize someone else’s property by deception, on an especially large scale, committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons. The maximum penalty under this article is eight years in prison.
Chervinsky is in jail on charges of rocket attacks on an airfield in the Kirovograd region.
