This is stated in a message published today, December 28, by the department’s press service.
Members of a criminal organization suspected of high treason are preparing a large-scale media special operation to discredit the State Bureau of Investigation. On instructions from the Russian special services, they plan to spread fake news about the progress of the pre-trial investigation against them, talk about alleged political persecution, etc., the report says.
Due to dubious sources in the media, it is planned to disseminate false and “distorted” information to level out the facts and evidence proven by the investigation, the DBR adds.
It is noted that we are talking about a criminal organization exposed by the DBI and the SBU in November of this year, which included current and former people’s deputies, an assistant to one of them, as well as an ex-prosecutor. The pre-trial investigation into this case continues.
We urge you to trust only official sources of information, carefully check the facts and be sure to contact government authorities,” the department notes.
