The bulk carrier was heading to one of the Danube ports to load grain. This was reported today, December 28, in the Telegram channel of the Defense Forces of southern Ukraine.
The ship lost speed and control, and a fire broke out on the upper deck. To avoid flooding, the captain fixed the ship aground, the report says. – Boats of the Maritime Security and Search and Rescue Service immediately assisted the crew and brought doctors on board.
It is noted that during the inspection of the ship and the interview of the captain, two sailors were identified who were injured:
- one of them received assistance on the spot;
- another second wounded man was taken to the nearest hospital for further examination, accompanied by doctors. His condition is satisfactory.
Tugboats have been sent to the vessel to refloat it and deliver it to the port.
The Defense Forces continue to ensure the safety of civilian shipping in the face of heavily mined enemy seas. Stormy weather often exacerbates mine hazards. That is why the issue of sea mine clearance with the support of international partnership remains relevant, the report notes.
