When the ship was inspected and the captain was interviewed, two sailors were found injured, the Defense Forces of southern Ukraine reported.
A civilian ship flying the Panama flag was blown up by a Russian naval mine in the Black Sea. The press service of the Defense Forces of southern Ukraine reported this today, December 28.
“The bulk carrier was on its way to one of the Danube ports to load grain. The ship lost speed and control, a fire broke out on the upper deck. To avoid flooding, the captain righted the ship to run aground. Boats of the Maritime Security and Search and Rescue Service immediately helped the crew and brought doctors on board “During the inspection of the ship and interview with the captain, two sailors were found injured. One was treated on the spot, the second wounded was taken to the nearest hospital for further examination, accompanied by doctors. His condition is satisfactory,” the report said.
Tugboats were dispatched to the vessel to refloat it and bring it to port.
Earlier it was reported that the mines were destroyed in the Black Sea, washed up on the shores of the Nikolaev region and the Odessa region. The mine risk level in coastal regions remains very high.
