The first body armor for female military personnel was certified in Ukraine.

The sample was approved after two stages of testing. After the first stage of field testing, the body armor was modified taking into account the structure of the female body. Its design features include a curved armor plate, narrowed shoulders and a widened bottom. The chief specialist of the Central Directorate for Development and Support of Material Support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Sharko, spoke about this on December 27, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported on social networks.
Since women have narrower shoulders and, on the contrary, wider pelvises than men, it was inconvenient for military personnel to work with weapons in the “male” version of body armor,” he noted.
The weight of body armor for women depends on the size and configuration and starts from 10.5 km. It also has an outward curved armor plate. In other respects, this element of protection does not differ from a general-arms body armor.
Let us remind you that the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that over the last two years the number of women in the Armed Forces of Ukraine has increased by 12 thousand – almost 43 thousand military personnel are now serving. Thus, from 2021, 40% more people are serving in the army.
