The Australian Federal Government recently received a request from Ukraine to transfer decommissioned Taipan helicopters to the Ukrainian Army. This was reported by the Asia Pacific Defense Reporter.
Technicians are known to be secretly dismantling all 45 army Taipan multi-role helicopters and burying the components at a defense facility.
As the publication writes, “each helicopter is worth about $20 million on the secondary market, so the decision was made to destroy them quietly in the hope that no one would notice. due to their design, carbon is very strong fibers.”
Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles said the helicopters would be disposed of in such a way as to maximize their value.
It was previously reported that Australia plans to expand the training program for Ukrainian Armed Forces recruits.
