The IDF announced the destruction of tunnels located under Palestine Square in the prestigious Rimal district. Top Hamas officials were hiding underground in this network of tunnels when the terrorist group launched an attack in southern Israel on October 7. This was reported by the Times of Israel.
This underground network connected the homes, offices and hideouts of senior Hamas officials, including the leader of the terrorist group’s military wing, Mohammed Deif, and its top official in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar.
In these tunnels, the Israeli military discovered supplies of food and water. The IDF described the complex as an “underground city of terror” connected to other important underground infrastructure in the Gaza Strip.
This network of tunnels was destroyed by the elite combat engineering unit Yahalom and the 401st Armored Brigade.
Let us remember that in the war between Israel and Hamas, the Israelis use advanced military technologies in the theater of operations. In particular, the IDF uses artificial intelligence systems called “Habsora,” or “Gospel” in Ukrainian.
