A number of Telegram channels write about US citizenship for the children of Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, citing his declaration. The Ministry of Defense warned that this is a fake.

The department says that the minister’s 10-year-old son and his two daughters, eight and two years old, only have Ukrainian citizenship. They have no other citizenships. This is also stated in the declaration itself in the “citizenship” column.
The Ministry of Defense explains that the minister’s children received new passports at the Ukrainian Embassy in the United States. His family traveled to the States in 2016 due to assassination attempts and threats against Umerov for his activities in the occupied Crimea.
Umerov, as a delegate of the Kurultai of the Crimean Tatar people, together with the Leader of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev and representatives of the Mejlis, spoke at all international platforms regarding violations of people’s rights in occupied Crimea, and was involved in the process of releasing political prisoners of Crimea.
