The spokesperson of the State Department commented on the words of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, who at a press conference on December 19 expressed confidence in Ukraine’s continued support from the United States.

The United States supports Ukraine in many ways, but the decision must be made by Congress. Congress must make a decision about Ukraine by the end of the year, as a difficult winter awaits. US State Department Speaker Matthew Miller said this in a briefing.

The speaker commented on the words of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, who at a press conference on December 19 expressed confidence in Ukraine’s continued support from the United States.

“We support Ukraine across the board. We are more ready than ever to support additional funding for Ukraine. We have one package left that we can provide to Ukraine this year, but then we have exhausted our ability to provide additional security assistance. Therefore, I assume that this question is for the US Congress,” said Matthew Miller.

Miller emphasized that by the end of the year, Congress should decide on a request for aid to Ukraine, because a difficult winter season awaits.

“We want to have a decision before the end of this year. That has always been our goal and our priority. Congress needs to decide whether it plans to support Ukraine and provide the funding necessary to fight Russian aggression as winter approaches, which if where we predict will will be very difficult, or will leave everything as it is,” said the spokesperson.

Miller said President Joe Biden’s administration has no alternative plan to provide aid to Ukraine and funding sources will dry up within weeks, so “Congress has to act.”

We remind you that the US Senate announced that the issue of additional aid provided by the United States to Ukraine will be decided next year.

Earlier, the White House called on the US Congress not to delay making a decision on new aid to Ukraine. They emphasized that Putin’s victory would mean a threat to the entire world order.
