Sources in the Ukrainian intelligence service told reporters that the attack on Russian regions was a test of new UAVs.
Russian regions, including the outskirts of Moscow, were attacked by unknown drones on the night of Tuesday, December 19. This was a test of new methods for Ukrainian intelligence. The publication reports this RBC-Ukraine with reference to sources in the intelligence services.
Drones attacked objects in the Bryansk and Kaluga regions, and were also seen near Moscow.
The operation was carried out by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, media reports.
“It’s testing new tools,” the source explained.
As you know, Russian media and officials reported about the drone attack. In particular, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced the downing of an aircraft-type drone on approach to the capital of the Russian Federation. According to him, the drone was shot down in the Odintsovo urban district at around 12:45 local time.
In addition, three drones, according to the Russians, were shot down in the Bryansk region, and one fell in the Kaluga region. In all cases, the Russians ensured no damage or casualties.
