US Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasized that it also expands the possibilities of joint efforts in support of Ukraine.
The United States and Finland signed an agreement in Washington on December 18 that will strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the field of defense. The ceremony took place at the US State Department, reports Ukrinform.
According to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, the new arrangement will allow the militaries of the two countries to work together more efficiently and effectively.
“Our troops will have more opportunities to train together, and we will strengthen NATO’s interoperability,” he said.
Blinken added that the United States entered into a defense agreement with Sweden this month and plans to sign a similar document with Denmark next week.
“We already have a network of defense cooperation agreements that stretch from northern to southern Europe, from the Norwegian to the Black Sea, and provide security and stability for people across the continent,” said the head of the State Department .
He emphasized that this also expands opportunities for joint efforts in support of Ukraine.
“American assistance is critical to strengthening Ukraine’s ability to stand on its own two feet — militarily, economically, democratically, and to ensure that Putin’s war of aggression remains a strategic failure,” Blinken said.
We remind you that Finland will increase the production of ammunition for arming Ukraine. Ammunition production will increase by tens of millions of euros.
It has also been reported that the EU has sent additional forces to Finland on the border with the Russian Federation.
