Salikov is a former colonel of Russian intelligence, he is 60 years old. He claims he can provide the court in The Hague with valuable evidence about Russian war crimes and how decisions were made to commit them.
At least, this is what the Russian project Gulagu.net claims, which is engaged in (or previously was engaged in the so-called “evacuation” of all kinds of Russian war criminals who allegedly “repented”).
Salikov was the head of the 4th special operations department of the so-called DPR Prosecutor General’s Office, and fought against Ukrainians in the east in 2014-2015. In 2017, he was a senior instructor at the Wagner Air Defense Forces in Syria.
In February 2022, he commanded one of the “PVK Redut” units of the Russian Ministry of Defense during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
At the same time, as Russian human rights activists assure, war criminal Salikov “does not hope for immunity from criminal prosecution by the ISS”, “is ready to answer for complicity in aggression against Ukraine and deeply repents of having taken part in this.”
