The defense ministers of Sweden and Denmark signed a joint letter of intent to further support Ukraine in the field of combat vehicles, reports the press service of the Swedish government.
According to the information released, Denmark will initially make a financial contribution of DKK 1.8 billion, while Sweden will support the procurement under an agreement signed between the Swedish Defense Materiel Management Agency (FMV) and Ukraine in July this year.
This is an important step to support the Ukrainian defense forces together with Denmark. We will use production capabilities to ensure the supply of new CV90 combat vehicles to Ukraine,” said Swedish Defense Minister Paul Johnson.
This year, Sweden has already transferred 50 CV90 infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine, which have shown high efficiency during combat operations. Kyiv requested Stockholm for additional supplies of this equipment.
Combat Vehicle 90 is a family of Swedish infantry fighting vehicles. Serial production of the CV90 began in 1993. In total, about 1 thousand 170 cars were produced in various modifications, most of which were exported to other countries.
In addition to several variants of infantry fighting vehicles, a number of specialized armored fighting vehicles have also been developed based on the CV90, including a light tank with a 120 mm smoothbore gun.
