On Monday, December 18, the Poles plan to resume protests at the Yagodin-Dorogusk checkpoint. The strike is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. Polish farmers from the United Village organization will also join the action. The leader of the Lublin branch of the Confederation Party, Rafal Meckler, announced this on the social network X.
It is noted that Polish farmers took this step “due to the tragic situation on the Polish market caused by the uncontrolled influx of grain from Ukraine, the lack of prospects for improving the situation in the 2023 harvest, as well as the lack of implementation of systemic solutions in order to protect the domestic market.”
Protesting farmers are demanding a halt to sugar imports from Ukraine, immediate payment of direct subsidies, maintenance of the excise tax rate on fuel at the same level and compensation for corn producers.
Let us remind you that on December 17, a queue of more than 2 thousand Ukrainian trucks accumulated at the Yagodin-Dorogusk checkpoint. One of the protest leaders, Pavel Ozigala, said that the border blockade could even last until March 8.
