The State Bureau of Investigation took charge of a fatal accident involving military personnel in the Lviv region

    The circumstances of the fatal accident in the Lviv region are being established by the DBI.

    The accident, in which four people died, including three military personnel, occurred on December 16 at about 15.00 on the Kyiv-Chop highway near the village of Smozhe, Stryi district. All the dead were in a car belonging to one of the military units. The press service of the State Bureau of Investigation reported this on December 18.

    It was previously established that the military driver lost control and drove into the oncoming lane, where a truck with a trailer was moving at that moment.

    Law enforcement officers opened criminal proceedings on the fact of violation of road safety rules involving military transport (Part 2 of Article 415 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). All the circumstances of the tragedy are being established, and appropriate examinations have been ordered.

    Let us remind you that on December 16, on the Kyiv-Chop highway in the village of Smozhe, Lviv region, a fatal traffic accident occurred – a Ford Focus passenger car with military license plates collided with a truck. The victims of the accident were employees of the State Special Transport Service, among them one of the leaders – the deputy head of the administration of the State Special Transport Service, Colonel Viktor Zhigunov.
