Law enforcement officials have neutralized the FSB intelligence network that orchestrated Russian air strikes on Zaporozhye’s military and civilian infrastructure. The SBU reports it.
It was noted that as a result of a special operation in Zaporozhye, the leader of an enemy group was detained, which on October 18 of this year “aimed” Russian missiles at an apartment building in the center of the city. That night, as a result of the enemy attack, 5 people were killed and 5 others were seriously injured.
According to the investigation, the leader of the Russian agents turned out to be a local resident, a representative of the Zaporozhye “military reconstruction club,” which unites lovers of recreating historical events, including military battles. In mid-October 2023, he was remotely recruited by the FSB to conduct reconnaissance and explosive activity in a front-line city.
For undercover communication with the Russian intelligence service, the defendant chose the operational pseudonym “Palestinian” and created an anonymous chat on a popular messenger. To ensure the fulfillment of the enemy’s activities, he formed his own group of informers, which included 4 local residents, including his relatives. They checked the locations of defense forces on the territory of Zaporozhye, and also sent geolocations of housing infrastructure and industrial facilities. To collect intelligence data, informants walked around the area or went to objects and took pictures and videos of them with their own phone cameras. They passed on the information they received to “Palestinets,” and he has already sent it to the FSB through a “connected person” from one of the temporarily occupied cities in Zaporozhye.
The defendant was informed of the suspicion of treason, committed by a prior conspiracy of a group of people under martial law, and a preventive measure was chosen – detention. He faces up to life in prison.
