People’s representatives are preparing a bill that would oblige women to undergo basic combined arms training and serve in the army during martial law.
The Verkhovna Rada is drafting a bill that, among other things, provides for the introduction of military registration for women. The Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Maryana Bezugla published on Facebook the current developments of the draft law.
One of the points in the document states that women must register in the military, and the registration procedure will be determined by the Ministry of Defense.
Also, if the bill is passed, women will be required to undergo basic combined arms training.
In addition, it was assumed that during martial law, women were involved in military service, but for combat positions – only voluntarily.
At the same time, they are not included in basic military training, in addition to the general bases, related to pregnancy or child care.
It was previously reported that the number of female soldiers in the Armed Forces of Ukraine has increased by 40% in two years.
How mobilization is changing: what to expect in the near future
