The Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah died at the age of 86. Local state television reported this on Saturday, December 16.
“It is with great sorrow and sadness that we – the Kuwaiti people, the Arab and Islamic countries and the friendly people of the world – mourn the late His Highness the Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, who passed away in his Lord. today,” said the Minister of the Emir’s Household, Mohammed Abdullah, in an address to Al Sabah.
In November, the emir was hospitalized due to an urgent health problem. So far the cause of his death has not been revealed.
As you know, Nawaf al-Ahmed took the oath of office in September 2020. The government appointed him as the new emir of Kuwait following the death of Sheikh Sabah’s paternal brother Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah at the age which is 91.
Before becoming emir, Nawaf al-Ahmed held various positions in the civil service. In particular, he is the Minister of Defense, Interior and Deputy Prime Minister. In 2006, he received the title of Crown Prince of Kuwait.
