President Vladimir Zelensky arrived on a trip to Lviv. There he paid tribute to the memory of the defenders of Ukraine who died in the Russian-Ukrainian war, the presidential press service reported on Friday, December 15.
“The President and the leadership of the Office of the Head of State laid flowers on the graves of heroes buried on the Field of Mars in the Lychakiv Cemetery. These are soldiers and sergeants who died in battles with the Russian invaders in spring of 2022 and early 2023,” the message said.
Zelensky also spoke with the mother of Lieutenant Pavel Shcherbina, who was the commander of a separate platoon of grenade launchers, participated in the liberation of Kherson, and then fought in the direction of Bakhmut. Died December 15, 2022.
Lychakiv Military Cemetery is the territory of military burials in Lviv. Since April 2022, those killed in the Russian-Ukrainian war have been buried in its central part.
We remind you that the National Military Cemetery will be built near the village of Gatnoe near Kiev. It is primarily planned to open in the first half of 2024.
