The US Senate on Wednesday, December 13, approved the country’s defense budget for the 2024 fiscal year for a record amount of $886 billion, Reuters reports.
It was noted that the draft of the National Defense Budget Act was adopted with great support from both Democrats and Republicans.
Once approved by the Senate, the bill will go to the House of Representatives, which could pass it by the end of this week.
The publication notes that President Joe Biden “strongly supports” the bill and is expected to sign it into law.
Let’s remember that last year the Senate of the US Congress approved the defense budget of the United States for the next year with a record 858 billion dollars, which also includes funds for military assistance to Ukraine.
It was previously reported that the US defense budget for 2024 also provides $300 million for Ukraine.
