The proposal provides expanded powers for the US president to deport migrants.
US President Joe Biden has proposed changes to America’s border policy. They raised the prospects for a bipartisan agreement on aid to Ukraine. Bloomberg reported this on Wednesday, December 13.
“Republicans met behind closed doors to weigh the oral proposal, which came after Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas met with senators for nearly two hours Tuesday night,” the report said.
The measure would give the president expanded powers to deport migrants once a certain number of undocumented migrants cross the border, according to Republican Sen. Thom Tillis.
However, conservative Republicans say the proposal doesn’t go far enough. In particular, Ohio Republican James David Vance said that when the White House intervened, the issue became clearer, but a final agreement would not be ready “any time soon.”
Earlier, Joe Biden said that the United States will not refuse to support Ukraine because it is important for the whole world.
Before this, the American leader said that the United States would allocate an additional $200 million to Ukraine.
