In addition, Europe is cool about the possibility of Georgia and the Western Balkans joining.
This is evidenced by a survey conducted by the European Council on Foreign Relations in six EU member states, writes The Guardian.
The survey showed that Denmark (50%) and Poland (47%) have the greatest support for Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
Opinions are divided in Romania (32% against, 29% against), Germany (37% against, 39% against) and France (29% against, 35% against).
In Austria, 52% of respondents were against it.
The possibility of Turkey joining the EU causes non-perception in 51% of respondents.
Europeans were also lukewarm about Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia becoming EU members, with combined support for these eight countries amounting to less than 30%.
Support for joining was weakest for Kosovo (20% said it should be able to join, 37% said not), Albania (24% against, 35% against), Serbia (25% against, 35% against) and Georgia (25% for, 31% against).
North Macedonia (26% against, 27% against) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (28% against, 29% against) were more evenly divided, while Moldova (30% against, 28% against) and Montenegro (30% against, 25% against) %)) received support for joining the EU.
Let us remind you that on December 14-15 there will be a summit of the Council of the EU, at which EU member countries plan to decide on the start of negotiations between the EU and Ukraine.
