Entry into Slovakia will be blocked for freight transport, while personal transport and passenger traffic will not be restricted.
The Slovak road transport union UNAS decided to resume blocking the border with Ukraine from midday on Monday.
The key demand of the blockers, as in the Polish protests of carriers, is the resumption of the permitting regime for Ukrainian carriers, that is, the abolition of the so-called EU transport visa-free regime with Ukraine.
In addition, on December 11, near the Zahony-Csop checkpoint on the Hungarian-Ukrainian border, Hungarian carriers planned to start a demonstration, but noted that they did not plan to block the movement of trucks. The speaker of the State Border Service Demchenko announced this on December 10.
On the morning of December 11, approximately 3,700 trucks are waiting to enter Ukraine at the border with Poland. This is 200 trucks more than the previous day. The checkpoints “Rava-Russkaya-Grebnoye”, “Yagodin-Dorogusk”, “Krakovets-Korcheva” and “Shegini-Medika” continue to be blocked. About this on air “Public. Resistance,” said the representative of the State Border Service of Ukraine Andrey Demchenko.
Last week, the first batch of trucks arrived by rail from Ukraine to Poland. In the future, Ukrzaliznytsia promises to make such departures regular and attract more platforms.
