At the “people’s memorial” people left flowers and toys. This was reported today, December 10, by “Public”.
It is noted that due to the fire, the stop where the memorial was set up was damaged – the seats and roof burned down.
A new toy, flag and flowers have already been brought to the “people’s memorial”.
Law enforcement officers are already looking for those involved in the destruction of the memorial, reports the Otkryty publication, citing the press service of the Dnieper Patrol Police.
Based on the information found on social networks, the police recorded the fact in the uniform register of the police department for verification. While law enforcement officers are identifying the persons involved in the incident, noted Alina Stadnik, speaker of the Dnieper police.
Law enforcement is considering several versions of what happened:
- arson for hooligan reasons (deliberate arson);
- fire due to negligence (the fire occurred as a result of careless handling of fire, through a candle or lamp).
The Municipal Transport Infrastructure of the City of the Dnieper City Council is preparing a statement to the police about damage to public property due to a bus stop being set on fire, Dnepr Operative reports.
It is noted that this stop was damaged during the attack on January 14, 2023. Its reconstruction was not carried out precisely because people continued to bring flowers and toys to honor the memory of the victims.
The stop will be cleaned up today after the fire last night, and issues of its reconstruction will be addressed later.
A Russian missile attack on the Dnieper on January 14, 2023, killed 46 people and seriously injured more than 80 others.
