A decision on whether “Finland will launch an investigation into terrorism,” Yle reports, could be made early next week. According to the publication, the police are currently studying materials sent by Ukraine to Finland. These materials are available in the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Deputy Prosecutor General Jukka Rappe said that Petrovsky is suspected of committing crimes of a terrorist nature on the territory of Ukraine as part of the neo-Nazi group “Rusich”.
Torden was detained in Finland at the request of Kyiv. The Finnish Supreme Court refused the request. Thorden was released on December 8 and immediately detained again.
As Yle writes, the police, together with the Prosecutor General’s Office, are studying information provided by the Ukrainian side confirming the need to expel the Russian.
After this, the Prosecutor General will decide to launch a full-fledged investigation.
It is noted that Torden’s case is unique, since they will investigate the activities of a non-citizen of Finland who committed probable crimes outside the country. However, Finnish legislation allows such investigations to be opened “for the benefit of the investigation and the execution of justice.”
In Ukraine, Jan Petrovsky (Vojislav Torden) is wanted on suspicion of participation in terrorist activities for his participation in hostilities in Donbass in 2014-2015.
