Yurchyshyn was appointed instead of Nestor Shufrich, suspected of high treason. 247 people’s deputies voted for the corresponding decision. Parliamentarian Yaroslav Zheleznyak announced this on December 9 on Telegram.
As you know, people’s deputy from the banned party “Opposition Platform – During Life” Nestor Shufrich was informed of suspicion, and the Security Service of Ukraine conducted searches in his house. Shufrich was taken into custody on September 15, and on November 10, the measure of restraint for the people’s deputy was extended until December 15, 2023.
Let us recall that at the end of November, several draft resolutions were registered in the Verkhovna Rada on the appointment of deputies Yaroslav Yurchyshyn from “Voice” and Rostislav Pavlenko from “European Solidarity” to the post of head of the parliamentary Committee on Freedom of Speech.
