Recently, it became known to the West that Russia may launch a concerted campaign of winter strikes against Ukraine’s critical energy infrastructure.
In the West, it is assumed that last night’s massive shelling in Ukraine could be “the start of the winter strikes campaign,” writes Sky News.
“We have noted over the past several weeks that Russia may launch a concerted winter campaign of strikes against Ukraine’s critical energy infrastructure, and we assess that Russia likely attempted to initiate this activity last night,” an unnamed Western official told the publication.
The interlocutor recalled that the strikes on Ukrainian territory were carried out with Tu-95 bombers, “which have not actually been deployed or used for the past several months,” and now the strikes continued and the Russians use high-precision missiles.
In addition, he emphasized that this rocket attack “from the field of reconnaissance” was not coordinated with drone attacks, as the Russians regularly do.
We remind you that today, December 8, in the evening, the Russian invaders launched a massive missile attack on Ukraine for the first time in several months. The air defense was able to shoot down 14 of the 19 Kh-101/Kh-555 missiles launched by the invaders using Tu-95 bombers.
Also, unfortunately, there were hits that resulted in someone’s death.
It was earlier reported that the air defense shot down five of the seven suicide bombers during the night.
