On Friday, December 8, the capital’s authorities announced a halt to train traffic on the section between the Lybidskaya and Demeevskaya stations of the Obolonsko-Teremkovskaya metro line. It is preliminary known that the tunnel depressurized and cracks appeared on the walls. This led to flooding of the tunnel in the specified section of the metro. This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
The prosecutor’s office began a pre-trial investigation into the fact of official negligence, which resulted in grave consequences. Investigators and prosecutors are looking into the circumstances that led to the subway shutdown.
Law enforcement officers will also have to give a legal assessment of the actions of officials of the Kiev Metro public utility and contractors who built the running tunnels between the Demeevskaya and Lybidskaya stations in the floodplain of the Lybid River.
Let us remind you that today six Kyiv metro stations stopped working. The movement of metro trains on the section between the Teremki – Demeevskaya stations was stopped for safety reasons and taking into account the technical condition of the tunnels.
The public initiative “Kyiv Passengers” reported that train traffic between these stations was stopped due to depressurization of the tunnel, which was in emergency condition. In the tunnel, water entered the path, which resulted in significant flooding.
