The President of Ukraine thanked the Netherlands for its strong support for Ukraine and highly appreciated the fruitful interaction with Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
On Tuesday, December 5, the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, Hanke Brains Slot, who is visiting Ukraine. This was reported by the presidential press service.
Zelensky thanked the Netherlands for its strong support for Ukraine and highly appreciated the fruitful interaction with Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
The parties discussed the priority needs of the Ukrainian defenders, mainly regarding the strengthening of air defense, the provision of additional 155 mm artillery systems and ammunition, as well as the training of Ukrainian pilots in F- 16 fighters with the support of the Netherlands, they. also discussed the functioning of an alternative “grain corridor” and strengthening its protection.
Zelensky and Ganke Brains Slot paid attention to the implementation of the Ukrainian peace formula, in particular, the preparation of the fourth meeting at the level of security and foreign policy advisers, as well as the Global Peace Summit, and discussed further steps to create a special tribunal for the crime of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
In addition, the parties spoke about the European integration of Ukraine and preparations for the December meeting of the European Council.
“We hope for a positive decision of the European Council regarding the start of negotiations on the accession of Ukraine to the EU. This will be a strong motivation for our society and for our defenders,” the president emphasized.
Let’s remember that the Netherlands is one of the main allies of Ukraine in the war against the Russian aggressors. It was previously reported that the Dutch government has reserved 2 billion euros for 2024 for Ukraine. The money will mainly go to military aid.
It was also reported that the Netherlands will supply Ukraine with shells worth 500 million euros – for tanks and artillery systems. The Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive ammunition in 2024.
