This is the first batch of Ukrainian grain to be delivered along the new sea route across the Baltic Sea, which was opened due to the blockade of the Ukrainian port in the Black Sea.
On Monday, June 13, a ship with 18,000 tons of corn from Ukraine arrived at the Spanish port of La Coruña. Local farmers reported that a new sea route was being used for this purpose. This was reported by CNN.
The information is confirmed by the press service of the port. The Alppila corn freighter arrived before dawn on Monday and must be unloaded before Tuesday.
It was noted that this is the first batch of Ukrainian grain to be delivered along the new sea route through the Baltic Sea, which was opened due to the blockade of the Ukrainian port in the Black Sea.
“It’s a small shipment of corn, but it’s also evidence of the resumption of imports from Ukraine,” Agafac director Bruno Bid said in an interview with reporters.
The first batch of corn was delivered to Spain from the Polish port of Swinoujscie.
According to the Deputy Head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Dmitry Senik, Ukraine is trying to arrange new supply routes through the authorities of Romania, Poland and the Baltic countries so that the intercepted 22 million tons of grain in the ports of Ukraine arrived at their destination.
Earlier it was reported that the UN is working on an agreement on grain corridors, which includes unblocking the export of Ukrainian grain by sea, as well as access to global markets for Russian food and fertilizers.
It will be recalled that earlier the head of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov said that no grain will go anywhere to anyone until the issue of security of Ukraine is resolved.
