About 75% of the dead were men, about 2% were children, the rest were women, the head of the National Police.
Police are investigating criminal proceedings on the facts of the deaths of more than 12 thousand Ukrainians, 1200 bodies, including those found in mass graves, have not yet been identified. This was announced by the head of the National Police of Ukraine Igor Klymenko in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
He clarified that more than 1,500 civilians were killed in the Kyiv region alone.
“In Bucha, Irpen, Gostomel, Borodyanka there were a lot of dead people lying right on the streets – snipers shot them from tanks, from armored personnel carriers,” Klymenko said.
According to him, so many corpses of the dead were found in houses and apartments. As a rule, people died from mine explosion injuries.
It is too early to name specific numbers related to the mass graves, as horrific searches continue, the National Police chief said.
“In Bucha, 116 people are buried in one grave, with smaller burials – 5-7 people each. Residents collect the bodies of the dead and bury them in parks,” he added.
According to Klimenko, about 75% of the dead were men, about 2% were children, and the rest were women.
“It’s a civilian population, people have nothing to do with military structures or law enforcement,” he stressed.
The head of the National Police recalled that excavation procedures were being carried out and this process was quite complicated.
“So far, about 1,200 bodies of the dead have not been identified. It’s a long process, quite painful, because many bodies are in a state of putrefactive decay. We select DNA from relatives who have been in contact. contact us on the “hot line”, then we compare the profiles of these relatives with the profiles of the dead, buried, shot, unidentified.Relatives should be direct only-mother -dad-native children. This is the only way we work, “Klymenko summed up.
Earlier it was reported that Russian occupiers were destroying houses in Mariupol, refusing to search for the corpses of the dead under the rubble.
