Among those wishing to leave Gaza, the majority are women and children. It is planned to remove some of these people over the weekend.
Ukraine’s Ambassador to Israel Yevgeny Korniychuk said that Ukraine has received another 146 requests from its citizens who wish to evacuate from the Gaza Strip. In total, about 500 Ukrainians can stay in the enclave. He said this on the telethon.
“We received 329 permits for our citizens from Israelis and Egyptians. We managed to release 259 people, of which 172 are already in Ukraine. Others decided to stay in Egypt or go to Europe on their own, ” he says.
According to Korniychuk, since the cessation of hostilities and successful evacuation phase, an additional 146 requests from citizens have been received.
“And it is quite strange, because the absolute majority of these citizens have permission to leave, but they did not use it. For various reasons,” explained the ambassador.
Korniychuk added that the main issue is to get a new permit as soon as possible and remove these people from Egyptian territory.
“We have already submitted documents for approval. The situation is under the direct control of the president and the Minister of Foreign Affairs. And I am sure that by the end of the week we will be able to remove a significant part of these people who stayed and expressed the desire to be evacuated,” he noted.
Among those wishing to leave Gaza, the majority are women and children.
“I named 146 people, and among them there are only 54 new citizens who have not yet applied for evacuation. There are more than 110 women and children among them,” said Korniychuk.
As reported, in the first phase of the evacuation, Ukraine managed to remove 259 people from Gaza. We remind you that today, December 1, the Israel Defense Forces announced the end of the ceasefire with Hamas and the resumption of fighting in the Gaza Strip.
