The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) has added the Belgian independent gas system operator Fluxys to its list of international war sponsors.

The company facilitates the export of Russian liquefied gas, which brings money to the Kremlin to finance its invasion of Ukraine.
NAPC explained that Fluxys provides its facilities to the Yamal LNG company, the majority share of which belongs to the Russian gas company Novatek. It is owned by Russian oligarchs Leonid Mikhelson and Gennady Timchenko and is the main supplier of Russian liquefied gas to international markets. Mikhelson and Timchenko are members of Vladimir Putin’s inner circle.
At least a third of the Russian budget goes to war. Fluxys services help Russia replenish it this year by 800 million euros. These are eight Su-35 fighters. Or 800 Caliber missiles, which will attack the energy infrastructure of Ukraine in winter and kill Ukrainians. These are well-known facts. Fluxys knows this well, but continues to sponsor the Russian war, noted Alexander Novikov, head of NAPC.
Although many companies ceased any interaction with the Russian Federation after February 24, 2022, Fluxys continued cooperation with Yamal LNG and Novatek throughout 2022 and into 2023. According to international experts, Russia expects to receive up to 800 million euros in export tax revenues, which is possible thanks to LNG transshipment in Zeebrugge in 2023.
NACP is the body responsible for implementing the compliance system in the private sector. During the compliance process, counterparties must undergo a virtue test, including socially responsible business conduct according to OECD standards.
The International War Sponsors project is a reputational tool for achieving the quality of elements of global supply chains and the exit of international business from Russia. This, in turn, will reduce Russia’s financial and technological ability to kill Ukrainians.
On November 2, the Swiss corporation Nestle, one of the largest food manufacturers in the world, appeared on the list.
