The head of state recalled that there were no battles on the occupied peninsula, unlike in the East of Ukraine.
The de-occupation of the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions will be more difficult than the de-occupation of Crimea, because we are talking, in particular, about the return of people’s minds to Ukraine. This idea was expressed by the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky in a conversation with students from universities in the Mykolaiv region on Thursday, November 30.
“It may happen that we return these territories before these people. For example, if we are talking about Donbass, then people have been living there for ten years, but at the same time they are not there . They live somewhere else And it’s a long process ( deoccupation – ed.)… I think it’s more difficult in Donbass. My partners once told me: it’s almost impossible for you to return Crimea and it is very difficult to return Donbass. But I think, if we are talking about the people, because all the same territories were returned to the people, and if the people do not like it, it is very, very difficult ,” he believes.
According to him, it will be more difficult mentally to return the Donbass, because with its occupation by the Russian Federation ten years ago, a line of contact was created and an ongoing conflict took place.
“And there was a lot of separatism on that side. And they fought. It means that in some families in Donbass, not everyone came back, or some kind of history came back. And even now, when Russia is fighting with us, the most The staunch separatists are coming in while the Russians are fleeing. This also indicates something,” he said.
The head of state recalled that “there are no battles” in Crimea.
“Therefore, I believe that Crimea really expects its return. Donbass is also waiting, but it will be very difficult, because most of this territory is occupied and militarized to the maximum. People go to the contact line, and then is in an all-out war against us.”
The president also emphasized that “nowadays it is very important for Ukrainians to maintain integrity, because what we have is a unique experience: unity in the state, and it is very important, we have to take care of it. Everything else is certainly will be back.”
Earlier, Vladimir Zelensky said what should be a victory for Ukraine. According to him, in the future, any attempt by an aggressor country to return to our territory should not exceed the sick imagination of those harboring such plans.
In addition, it is reported that Ukraine has the opportunity to liberate the temporarily occupied Crimea from the Russians using the weapons it already has.
