Boycott Lavrov: Borrell explains why he is going to the OSCE meeting

The head of European diplomacy explained that he did not want “the seat of the European Union to be empty” at the meeting.

The head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, will go to the OSCE meeting, where the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will go. However, he had no intention of contacting the latter. The European official announced this in a joint press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba in Brussels on Tuesday, November 28.

“I have to go to the OSCE because we are members of the OSCE. We have to present our views and oppose Russia’s views,” he explained.

According to him, he will not talk to Lavrov, because he has to return immediately to participate in a meeting of the European Defense Agency.

“But I don’t want the EU seat to be empty, so I will take part in the dinner. Russia will show its point of view, but we will also show ours. I will not have a direct conversation with Lavrov,” Borrell concluded.

We remind you that Josep Borrell said that next week the EU mission will go to Kyiv to discuss proposals on the Ukrainian side on Ukraine’s security obligations.
