Next year, for the first time since Soviet times, the Russian dictatorship intends to direct almost a third of all spending on the maintenance of the army and the military-industrial complex. During the year, 10.775 trillion rubles will be spent under the heading “national defense”. ($121 billion). This is 70% more than in 2023 and 2.3 times more than in 2022. This was reported by the Moscow Times.
It is noted that the share of military expenditures in the budget, the total size of which will be 36.66 trillion rubles, will reach 29.5%. This is a record in the entire history of Russia, because a third of the budget was spent on defense by the USSR in its final years.
The railways will also spend large sums of money on security forces – under the heading “national security”, 3.338 trillion rubles will be allocated to the needs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Guard, special services and the FSIN system.
Thus, in total, almost 40% of the budget will be spent on law enforcement agencies.
Let us remind you that on November 9, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the state budget for 2024 in the second reading. The main item of expenditure in the future budget is defense – 22.1% or UAH 1.69 trillion will be allocated to provide security and defense forces.
