The American government will make the first grant contribution to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund in the amount of $25 million. A corresponding agreement has already been signed between the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Energy Community Secretariat. The press service of the Ministry of Energy reported this on November 28.
It is noted that the total amount of obligations for contributions from sponsors to the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine amounted to 329 million euros. Of this, about 192 million euros were actually transferred to the Fund’s account from 15 public and private sector sponsors from different countries. The rest of the money is announced and formalized contributions, which are expected in the Fund’s account in the near future.
The department noted that these funds are used to purchase equipment necessary for the resumption of energy companies. And in the period from January 1 to November 27, 2023, 132 agreements were concluded within the Fund for the purchase of energy equipment, fuel and materials for a total amount of almost 100 million euros.
As you know, the Ukraine Energy Support Fund was created in the spring of 2022. It allows foreign governments and private donors to provide significant support to the Ukrainian energy sector.
Let us remind you that Switzerland will provide Ukraine with an additional assistance package in the amount of 100 million Swiss francs and will supply 10 ambulances and six fire engines to replace damaged ones.
