The successful counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces south of Bakhmut in September 2023 was made possible thanks to Ukrainian electronic warfare and aerial reconnaissance systems over the enemy.

Also, Ukrainian RES systems significantly disrupted Russian communications in the western part of the Zaporozhye region in August 2023. And the effectiveness of Russian electronic warfare systems is inconsistent along the entire front line. The Ukrainian Armed Forces take advantage of this, using drone-based reconnaissance and strike systems to disrupt Russian offensive operations. This is stated in a new report from the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Military analysts emphasize that neither the Russian occupiers nor the Ukrainian Defense Forces currently have a decisive advantage over the other side in terms of electronic warfare.
ISW believes that increased Western assistance to Ukraine could improve the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ ability to accurately hit targets near the front line, disrupting the Russian offensive and even creating the conditions for further Ukrainian counter-offensives.
Let us remind you that the Institute for the Study of War stated that rainy weather slowed down the pace of hostilities in the east and south of Ukraine. And the immediate prospects for major changes on the front line will diminish with the onset of winter.
