In Russia, after a three -month downtime, McDonald’s former fast food restaurants are resuming work. On Sunday, June 12, 15 restaurants will open under the new brand Vkusno i Tochka in Moscow and the Moscow region.
On June 13, another 50 branches will open, by the end of June – about 200, then from 50 to 100 restaurants a week will open, said Oleg Paroev, general director of the chain, at the opening ceremony of a restaurant on Pushkinskaya Square. He noted that in the next 5-6 years the restaurant chain could expand from 850 to 1,000.
McDonald’s, like many other foreign companies, after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, announced the suspension of work in the Russian market, but continues to pay salaries to employees. In mid -May, it was learned that McDonald’s had decided to leave Russia.

“The humanitarian crisis caused by the war in Ukraine and the rapid unpredictability of the operating environment led McDonald’s to conclude that continuing to own a business in Russia was impossible and inconsistent with McDonald’s values,” explains McDonald’s. of the company.

The restaurant chain was sold to a businessman from Kuzbass Alexander Govor, who since 2015 has managed 25 restaurants in Siberia on a franchise basis. The agreement to sell the business provides that the buyer will retain the staff and conditions for them for at least two years. The McDonald’s brand, under the terms of the deal, is not available to new owners.
McDonald’s has 15 years to buy the business on market terms. This company has worked in Russia for over 30 years – the chain’s first restaurant opened in 1990 on Pushkinskaya Square in Moscow.
