At least 11 people have been killed and 35 injured in a fire at a shopping center in Karachi, one of Pakistan’s largest cities. The Guardian reported this.
More than 60 people were in the shopping center when the fire started. The fire broke out on the fourth floor of the six-story building.
Thirty-five people were injured, seven of them seriously, according to Shahid Hussain, a spokesman for the charity running the rescue operation. He added that the cause of the fire was a short circuit in the generator and the fire spread to two floors.
In Pakistan, building safety regulations are often ignored and fires in large buildings are a common occurrence in the country.
As reported, the opposition set fire to the Albanian parliament during a protest. The opposition Democratic Party tried to prevent the ruling socialist political force from holding the vote.
