This was reported by Haaretz with reference to the Prime Minister’s Office.
The agreement stipulates that Hamas will fire 50 women and children within four days. There will be no fighting in the Gaza Strip at this time. Israel will respond by releasing 150 Palestinian women and teenagers from Israeli prisons.
The truce will last four days. For every additional 10 Israelis released, the pause will continue for one more day.
During the truce, hundreds of trucks with humanitarian aid, medicine and fuel will be able to enter Gaza, Reuters quotes a Hamas statement. Also, the Palestinian group claims, Israel promised not to make arrests in all parts of the Gaza Strip during the truce period.
Representatives of Qatar, Egypt and the United States acted as mediators in the negotiations. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar said that a humanitarian pause in the Gaza Strip will be announced in the next 24 hours.
This is the first agreement between Israel and Hamas since the group’s militants attacked the country on October 7. During the attack, militants killed more than 1,200 people and took about 240 hostage. The Israeli army, in response to Hamas, began striking the Gaza Strip and then launched a ground operation. According to the Ministry of Health in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip, more than 14 thousand people have died during the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
