The Israeli government approved a deal with Hamas to release 50 hostages in exchange for a temporary ceasefire.
The Israeli government has accepted a deal with the Palestinian radical group Hamas to release about 50 hostages kidnapped in the October 7 terrorist attack in exchange for a ceasefire. This was reported by The Times of Israel.
Early in the morning of November 22, Israel’s Cabinet voted to approve a plan calling for a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip for several days. Hamas agrees to release up to 50 women and children captured in Israel.
According to media reports, the hostages will be released in exchange for Palestinians serving sentences in Israeli prisons.
According to a statement from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office, the first phase of the ceasefire will last four days, during which Hamas will release captives, mostly women and children, in groups of 12 -13 per day.
The agreement can be extended; for each day of the extension, Hamas promises to release 10 more hostages. After that, the IDF operation in the Gaza Strip will continue.
Let’s remember that on October 7, the Palestinian radical group Hamas, based in the Gaza Strip, attacked Israel. More than 1,200 people became victims of the attack, and more than 200 people were captured.
In response, Israel launched a military operation against Hamas. The number of victims of the Israeli strike in Gaza, according to Palestinian data, exceeds 12,900 people.
