The results of the count will be used to prioritize investments in the country’s recovery and reconstruction next year.
The United Nations, the Ukrainian government, the World Bank and the European Union have calculated how much money will be needed to rebuild the country after the war. Ukrinform wrote this on Tuesday, November 21.
According to Assistant UN Secretary General Miroslav Enchi, the cost of rebuilding Ukraine is tentatively estimated at more than $400 billion.
“Casualties from the war in Ukraine are likely to be greater than confirmed, as there is no sign of an end to the violence. Moreover, there are fears that attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure may intensify in colder months,” he said.
He noted that international organizations are ready to respond to worsening conditions during the winter. To achieve this, the partners aim to provide benefits to 1.7 million people.
He noted that so far, about 360 thousand people facing the war in Ukraine have received help.
“To help the people, another 435 million dollars are needed. These funds will be used to repair houses, buy winter clothes, heating equipment, fuel and repair the centralized water supply and heating systems,” he indicated.
The UN representative added that humanitarian aid has reached more than 10 million people this year, but by the end of the year the UN aims to reach up to 11 million people with aid.
He added that there are significantly more people who need help on the territory of Ukraine. We are talking about people who stayed to live in the occupied territories. According to UN estimates, there are about 4 million.
“These people will not receive humanitarian aid due to the fact that organizations cannot enter these territories,” Encha emphasized.
We remind you that Norway will finance humanitarian aid to Ukraine in the amount of 84 million euros. The money will go through Nansen’s multi-year support program.
