In one of the letters written by Napoleon on September 18, 1812, the emperor wrote that he arrived in Moscow and saw that the city was almost destroyed by fire.
11 letters from the French Emperor Napoleon and Bonaparte were put up for auction, in which, in particular, he wrote about “burnt Moscow.” The Bangkok Post reported this on Tuesday, November 21.
In one of the letters, dated September 18, 1812, the emperor reported that he arrived in Moscow and saw that the city was almost destroyed by fire.
“Today I examined the main chamber. This city was once charming. I say “is” because now more than half has been destroyed by fire,” wrote Napoleon.
In another letter, which sold for $58,300, Napoleon wrote about the city’s alcohol supply.
“We found cellars full of wine and liquor, which we really needed,” shared the emperor.
In another letter, which fetched $79,500 in the current auction, Napoleon listed ammunition needed for the final assault on Toulon in southern France. The letter was written after he had received a leadership position en route to becoming emperor.
It is noted that only part of the emperor’s letters are being auctioned.

We remind you that Napoleon’s hat was sold for a record price. Napoleon wore this particular hat from the middle of his imperial period, which lasted from 1808 to 1815.
It was previously reported that a guitar from Kurt Cobain’s last tour sold at auction for $1.6 million.
A new record price for a bottle of whiskey has been set.
