Now the department plans to analyze the number of Ukrainian scholarship holders who are abroad. They can continue to receive knowledge in foreign countries, but Ukraine will cancel their scholarships. Deputy Minister of Education and Science Mikhail Vinnitsky announced this on November 18 during a telethon.
We should not pay scholarships to those students who are abroad. They can continue to study, but scholarship support will probably be cut off for them,” he said.
According to the official, such a decision will increase scholarships for students in Ukraine. Vinnitsky stressed that the Ukrainian authorities should help students who remain in their homeland.
According to the head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Education, Science and Innovation Sergei Babak, as of September 2023, approximately 130-150 thousand Ukrainian students are abroad.
Let us remind you that the Canadian University of Waterloo has begun accepting applications for a summer internship program for at-risk students from Ukraine. This program will run from May 6 to August 23, 2024, and is designed for Ukrainian university students whose studies have been affected by the full-scale Russian invasion.
