British intelligence officials note that UAVs and artillery, especially cluster munitions, continue to play an important role.

Winter is unlikely to lead to major changes on the front lines in Ukraine. About that reports British Ministry of Defense on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday 18 November.

British intelligence reviewed major events on the front during the past week.

Main conclusions:

  • heavy fighting is taking place on the Kupyanskaya axis in the Luhansk region, around Avdeevka, on the left bank of the Dnieper in the Kherson region, where Ukrainian troops have created a bridgehead;

  • Neither side made significant progress on the front, but Russia continued to suffer heavy losses in the Avdeevka area.

British intelligence officers, citing eyewitnesses, note that drones and artillery, especially cluster shells, continue to play an important role on the front.

“With the start of a cold winter in eastern Ukraine, there is almost no immediate hope for major changes on the front line,” the report said.

As we wrote earlier, according to information from the British Ministry of Defense, the losses of Russian troops near Avdeevka, Donetsk region, are probably the largest for the whole of 2023.

British intelligence assessed Russia’s chances of capturing Avdeevka
