Switzerland supported the creation of a special tribunal to investigate the crime of Russian aggression against Ukraine. The Swiss Foreign Ministry announced this on Thursday, November 16.
It is indicated that Switzerland has confirmed its membership in the main group of countries advocating the creation of such a tribunal, because “aggression against Ukraine should not go unpunished.”
“In recent months, the initiative has been supported by 38 countries, including France, Germany, Norway, Guatemala, Japan and Canada. Switzerland officially joined the core group at a meeting in Berlin on November 16,” the statement said .
Berne added that countries advocating the creation of a special tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine have been meeting for several months within the main group of states. Their efforts are aimed at developing decisions on the practical design of the tribunal, including its format, location and working methods.
Let’s remember that Ukraine opposes the hybrid model of a special tribunal for Russia. Bringing the Russian leadership to justice should be done in the name of the civilized world, and not in the name of Ukraine, the Office of the President believes.
