Two organizers of a criminal group trying to smuggle 15 kg of “goods” worth UAH 9 million at black market prices are “hot”.
The Security Service of Ukraine neutralized a group of people in the Sumy region who were trying to sell abroad a large batch of a particularly dangerous psychotropic substance worth UAH 9 million. The regional department of the SBU reported this on Tuesday, November 14, on Facebook.
It was reported that the drug group included some residents of Sumy and Chernigov regions who planned to smuggle psychotropics obtained from underground drug laboratories abroad.
“To find clients, the defendants used their own connections to criminal groups, and to smuggle “goods” abroad that they brought to their own drug dealers,” the report said.
During searches of residential premises and storage facilities, the following were confiscated from criminals:
-
15 kg of a particularly dangerous psychotropic substance;
-
unregistered firearm with ammunition;
-
mobile phones, flash drives and rough recordings.
Security Service investigators have informed both drug gang organizers of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 15, part 2 art. 305 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (attempted smuggling of psychotropic substances by prior conspiracy of a group of people).
The criminal actions of one of them are also qualified under Part 2 of Art. 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal acquisition, storage, transportation, transfer or sale of psychotropic substances by prior conspiracy of a group of people).
Both attackers are in custody. They face up to 10 years in prison. The investigation is ongoing.
Let’s recall that earlier in the Kyiv region an organized criminal group involved in the smuggling of foreign precursors for the production of “heavy” psychotropics was neutralized.
And last week, Kyiv law enforcement officers exposed a minibus taxi driver who was transporting drugs to the capital from Malin, Zhitomir region, and selling them at a public transport stop.
